Entering China for treatment: your visa route

Entry rules vary by nationality and change often โ€” general orientation as of 2026; verify before you book flights.

  • Visa-free entry โ€” many nationalities can now enter China without a visa for short stays; the list and the allowed purposes change โ€” check your nationality on the official sites below.
  • 240-hour transit โ€” China offers a 240-hour visa-free transit scheme for eligible travelers passing through to a third country; check whether your nationality, routing and itinerary qualify under current official rules.
  • S2 medical visa โ€” for longer treatment stays, the embassy or visa centre tells you which visa applies (often the S2 medical visa) and which documents you need.

Verify before you fly

  • National Immigration Administration โ€” China's official entry & transit policies: en.nia.gov.cn
  • Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs โ€” find the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country: fmprc.gov.cn
  • Chinese Visa Application Service Center โ€” visa applications & appointments: visaforchina.cn

Check your visa route on the official sites above.
