Costs & estimates
A rough treatment estimate and trip budget — plus source-linked cost data comparing China with US prices.
Sources for estimate figures
Special cases: cardiac bypass & valve surgery are outside the angioplasty estimate — request an individual hospital quote; gallbladder surgery is quoted individually by the hospital; CAR-T and other cell therapies are quoted individually (typically $150,000–$180,000). Trip-budget figures are typical ranges from public booking platforms — actual prices vary by date, availability and platform.
China treatment ranges:
- Angioplasty / stent tier: $9,500–$15,500 at Chinese hospitals (Bookimed clinic listings, China — a commercial listing, not a hospital quote); stents themselves cost ~¥700–800 after national volume-based procurement (China State Council)
- SMILE / LASIK both eyes: ¥15,000–25,000 (≈$2,100–3,500) at Grade 3A hospitals (2025 China laser-eye surgery cost guide)
- Hip & knee, hernia, oncology course, dental implants, IVF and screening ranges: indicative ranges from our hospital contacts, checked September 2026 — not a quote. Press-reported figures: see the Source-linked cost data dashboard below.
US comparison figures (typical published US private prices):
- Angioplasty: commonly $28,000–$50,000 in the US (cost comparison table; US average ≈$32,200 per the NYT international price comparison)
- Hip replacement: typically $31,000–$45,000 uninsured (cost summary citing CostHelper data)
- A full course of modern cancer therapy: commonly tens of thousands of dollars (CareRoute 2026 cost guide)
- Single dental implant: typically $3,000–$7,000 (Smart Arches 2026 cost guide)
- IVF cycle: averages ≈$23,000–$25,000 with medications (Carrot Fertility 2026 analysis)
- LASIK: typically $1.5k–$5k per eye (LASIK.com 2026 price guide)
